ADOPTION FEES

Adoption fees for all animals is $150 for a kitten or cat, or $250 for a pair.

At adoption, all of our animals have been:

  • Spayed or Neutered

  • Microchipped

  • Vaccinated (age appropriate)

  • Tested for  FeLV (Feline Leukemia)

Once you've adopted a new pet into your family, all veterinary expenses are your responsibility for the lifetime of your pet.  We are not responsible for any ongoing medical treatment costs once you bring your new pet into your home.

OUTDOOR CATS

We strongly encourage adopters to keep all cats and kittens indoors only. It is a common misconception that cats do not live happy lives indoors, and in fact, the only thing they are missing by staying indoors is a world of dangers, including without limitation:

  • Being hit by a car

  • Being attacked and/or killed by a roaming dog, cat, or wild animal

  • Ingesting a deadly poison like pesticide or antifreeze

  • Contracting a deadly disease from another animal

  • Becoming lost

  • Being stolen

Cats kept strictly indoors can live long healthy lives of up to 18 years. Cats permitted to roam outdoors have an average life expectancy of only 5 years.

SINGLE KITTENS

For kittens under the age of 6-months, strong preference is given to applicants seeking to adopt kittens in pairs. Additionally, many of our kittens may be adopted only as part of an established pair, which will be noted in their bio on this website.

Kittens are extremely social creatures, and it is inhumane to deprive them of a playmate at this formative stage of their development. At this young age, human companions are no substitute for feline playmates.

Kittens adopted into homes without other young cats frequently develop permanent behavioral problems, including litter box problems, aggression including biting, and excessive vocalization.

If you are unable to adopt kittens in a pair, we strongly encourage you to apply for kittens over the age of 6 months and adult cats.

RETURN POLICY

If for any reason you need to return your new pet, please do so within fourteen (14) days of the day that you took the cat into your home. You will be issued a refund of the adoption fee paid, less 5% processing to cover administrative costs and fees. Refunds will issue within thirty days.

After fourteen (14) days, if you need to rehome your cat or kitten for any reason, we require that you return him or her to Foundling Kitten Society. We will not be able to refund the adoption fee, but we will place him or her in a new home. This policy is in place because we don't ever want our kitties to end up on the streets or at a city shelter ever again.
